Round 5 of the Israeli National League was one of days that (at least for me) everything was coming together right from the start. There was some rain a few days before the race and as expected the track had changed a little from the practice two week before. I prepared the car at home to what I was thought would be good starting setup for the new conditions.
Qualifying
The first round was okay for me, but some final tweaking to the car was needed.
For Adir Zvuluny it was about the same, with not the best result and some changes to his car. In the second round the car was much better and I set the fastest time; Adir had some radio problems. In the third round I set the fastest time again and overall TQ; Adir finally had good pace and result.
In the Truggy class, Ofer Rozen and Hovav Siboni were 3rd and 5th respectively. Adi Kimhi also showed that he had good potential.
Finals
The semi- finals were good without any problems. I finished 1st in mine, and Adir finished 3rd in his. I also got pole position for the A-main.
As the A-main began my car flamed out on the flag. My mechanic Erez quickly restarted the engine and I came out last of the grid. Somehow I managed to return to 2nd place before the end of the first lap. At first it was close battle with Yaniv Sivan (Kyosho) but after the first pit stop I took the lead and gradually increased the gap to a full lap by the end. Adir finished 7th.
The Truggy final was very thrilling. Ofer had a good pace and settled in 2nd. Hovav also had good pace and was on his way to his first podium until radio problem ruined his chance. Ofer held his 2nd place to the end, while Adi finished 5th.
